Writing Wednesday
Writing Wednesday is here again and like I promised things are a little Christmasy! I’m not a huge Christmas fan, but working for ages in retail tends to kill the joy of Christmas for you. I like the family time, I hate the lead up. Anyway, today’s prompt for you: Your character wakes up to find themselves in a snow storm…in the middle of summer! What do they do? Write it out and see what you can get from it. Have a crack at it, it’s not that Christmasy but it’s early days yet. Good luck! Send in your entires as usual and I’ll give them a look over…

NaNoWriMo is done, now what?
So now we’re out of November, the happiest writing month around as far as I’m concern, and now left to twiddle our thumbs, blink rapidly and try and find what life was like before the insaness that is NaNo, right? Or I might be alone in that, anyway! Now that you’ve got 50,000 words or even less, or maybe more, you’ve got a starting point. Don’t slack off now. Writing is like learning to ride a bike, you have to keep practicing to make it a part of your life and make it really resonate with what’s going on around you. Most people can’t just jump onto the computer and…

Writing Wednesday
The last week of NaNoWriMo is here! Woohooo. It’s all about finishing off and validating. How close are you do getting there? Today’s Writing Wednesday prompt is all about finishing a race (because, seriously, NaNo is a race!) Your character has just clawed their way through to the end of the race, what happened before getting there? Why are they all bloody and looking desperately for safety? Who was chasing them? I feel like zombies are about to be taken advantage of. How cool are they? Send me a your try for a chance to get free editing!

The Finishing Point: NaNoWriMo 2014
So I finished my NaNoWriMo first draft on the 17th of November. It’s why I’ve been a little quiet. I’ve been trying to process exactly what that means to me. I wrote 95,000 words in 17 days. That’s a record for me. I completed an entire novel. It seems that when I’m given then time and the drive, I’m a pretty immersive creature and when I’m into a project, I’m all in, baby. All the way in. Narrowing my focus and taking a weekend away from all of my distractions was probably the biggest push I needed. Through aching wrist and crying knees I reached 50k in 3 and a…

Sharing Sunday – Dead on Time: Part One
Today’s Sharing Sunday is by one of my gorgeous online friends who resides in the U S of A! Woop. Danni is a true gem, her writing is always so good and I know that whatever she comes up with is nothing short of amazing, even if she sometimes doesn’t think so! So over the next three Sunday’s you’ll be getting a snippet of her work, only because this piece is huge and I wouldn’t put you through the pain of sitting down and actually reading it all in one sitting, it’s worth it though! Here’s a little bit about the piece from Danni’s own fingers: Dead on Time originally…

Fully Awake Dreamer – Peta Hawker
I’ve been saving this beautiful lady for when the time is right. She is the main reason I feel like all of my weirdness works. I can’t pinpoint the first moment when we were friends but I just knew that I had to have her as a friend and together with Megan, I call this beautiful one of my best friends. Without her I don’t know how I would have been able to cope with the array of things that have happened in the three years that I have known her. After this you’ll see just why she is amazing too. Tell us a little about yourself and what you…

Writing Wednesday
Writing Wednesday is here again, are we ready for it? I think you might be. This week we’re looking at a colour again and it’s inspired by There For Tomorrow’s song Lady in Black. Black, it’s everywhere. It is in the crevices and cracks of your psyche. What are you going to do with it? Send in your tries and I’ll give you a free round of edits!

Writing Wednesday
I’ve been working at the show and today was supposed to be about me getting on top of things, and mostly I did, offline, so that’s something. Not long to go but I promise that thing will go back to normal real soon. Thanks for all being patient though. Here’s today’s Writing Wednesday prompt. You’re character is a fair and they spot their crush, what do they do next? Let me know what you come up with. I’ve been clearly in show mode so hence the fair prompt. I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday.

Sharing Sunday – Major Dakota’s Ghost
I really, really love everything that Susan has sent through. Note to Susan: if you have more and can share them, please do. This week’s Sharing Sunday piece is a snipper from Major Dakota’s Ghost. I think it’s brilliant, but I’ll let you be the judge of that one. Enjoy it! Major Dakota’s Ghost Commander Rocky slipped out of the Major’s office and crept silently along a dark passageway to a dungeon. He could hear muffled voices. He progressed slowly towards them to allow his eyes to adjust to the darkness. As he grew closer he could hear a man’s voice raised about the rest. “Just shut ya yapping, ya…

Writing Wednesday
So I missed Sharing Sunday, I was super busy with going to the color run with my Mum and then having my godson and his parents and grandma come over for dinner and I was busy swooning over his pretty little head that it totally slipped by me! Now that I’m back in Melbourne I’m adjusting to being back better, looking for a car and generally trying to get back on track (can you say going back to the gym hurts, ouch!) but I’m here and ready wit today’s writing prompt! Think fire, candles, pyromania. Your characters is a pyromaniac, what is three things that they would torch first…
