Every Writer Needs a Place
I’ve been having a bit of a hard time with blog posts lately and largely I think that’s because I’ve been stressing out so much with trying to have enough income to support myself so I can stay in my apartment that is, very much, home to me. I got a promotion at work and I’m currently 2IC at an outlet store with a fantabulous manager and a great team. I was a little hesitant to move because my old store was so close to me, but now I’m so damn glad that I was able to do it. I’m much happier and life is a little shiny around the…

Writing Wednesday
Easter is on it’s way and what better what to celebrate than with chocolate? For me, my easter is next week, I’m Greek, so we get all of the discounted easter eggs, which is always the best! This weeks prompt is all about chocolate so go wild. You get sent a basket of ingredients to make chocolate…what kind do you make? Explore it and tell me in detail how you do it. Remember to send your entries to dreaming (at) dreamingfullyawake (dot) com for a chance to be features on my Sharing Sunday, which will be starting up again, really soon!

Adelaide Writers’ Week 2015
For the first time since I moved to Melbourne I attended the Adelaide Writers’ Week in (you guessed it, Adelaide) I had a duel sort of purpose for being down, one was this and the other was that I officially became godmother to the most adorable little man on the planet. Bliss. It was also, in short, a great little holiday I needed where I read, caught up with old friends, found out lots of new things as well as looked back on the past, but enough about that. What you really want to know about is the Writers’ Week. Being on a come down from almost being burnt out…

Writing: A Form of Emotional Release
I learned a long time ago that writing was a form of emotional release for me. It was a way for me to cope with the world; an escape. What I didn’t realise was that sometimes it’s a bad thing to do. Why you ask? I’ll tell you why. I finished editing my first novel and I’m now in the process of going through my second novel to start rewrites next month and I cam across a scene where I’ve had to kill a character. A character that is a huge part in a lot of my character’s life. A father figure. And right now, as I am going through…

Writing Wednesday
And it’s here again. Writing Wednesday has come around again. Where has the week gone? I was a little silent on the blog (even though I had the burning urge to write) due to some updates with my hosting, but all is good now and here we are! Yay. I’ve had lots of conversations in the last week about technology and social media. Sometimes it can be a real drag. So it’s fitting that today’s writing prompt is about technology. Your character wakes up in a world where technology as we know, is a thing of the past, literally. What sorts of things are out now and explain it,…

Finding The Write Distance
It’s no surprise that I love writing fiction. And I know that what I do isn’t perfect, it’s why editing exists because you need to keep remoulding, revising and revitalising your work to get it close to perfect. I’ll always find something wrong with my writing, but I’m a perfectionist, so it’s probably not a good thing to look at me (ha!). Today’s blog is about distance and finding the write distance in both your writing and in your editing. You’re probably looking at me and going, why the hell have you put the wrong right in title? Well for one, I’m covering two different types of distances. One that is…

Writing Wednesday
It’s another Writing Wednesday, and what a good Wednesday it is. I’m up at the Adelaide Writers’ Week and I’m volunteering. It’s been years since I’ve been to the writers’ week and they’ve made it beautiful. It’s been fun. Today’s writing prompt is all about TV Shows. I’ve been binging on Banshee, which is so damn addictive. You’re character’s favourite show is something that’s so far out of the norm, how do they react to it when that show is better than their reality. Write it out. Don’t forget to send your tries to dreaming (at) dreamingfullyawake (dot) com

Writing Wednesday
Today’s Writing Wednesday piece is all about prettiness and flowers. Flowers lighten up a room and I’ve come so used to buying them for myself that I stray from the usual. If there’s something different I want it. So today, here’s your turn to tell me about flowers. Flowers arrive at your workplace without a card. It’s not Valentine’s Day and you don’t have a partner…who could they be from? Explore it. Send me your tries! Let me know about them in the comments below, send me a link or send me an email to dreaming (at) dreamingfullyawake (dot) com

Writing Wednesday
I can sense a bit of a theme with this month’s Writing Wednesday. I’m so glad that it’s summer so I’m a little bit obsessed with the beach. It’s my favourite place to go and then recharge and switch back on. Today’s prompt is about getting ready to go on a beach trip. You’ve got your bathers on, but that’s as organised you are at the moment. What do you need to take with you to the beach? What’s in your bag? Do you have money for food or are you bringing some? Explain in detail and talk about how it feels to get ready to go to the beach.…
