• 2013 in review

So like many of the other blogs I follow religiously, many have done a review of 2013 and I think, while I normally do this closer to the 31st, I’ll start now. At the start of the year I had no plan. I wanted to get fitter (check) and healthier (check) but the main one? It was to finish the first draft of my novel. I had my doubts. I thought i couldn’t do it, but hell i did it. I did it with a month or so spare. I also got accepted into BWAP’s Manuscript fellowship where the head of my course sat down and read my novel cover…

  • With All My Soul

I’ll be the first person to toot this author’s horn. Rachel Vincent is AMAZING. She’s so good that she needs caps. I picked up her first book, Stray, while I was at Flinders and fell in love with her words, her worlds and just her. I didn’t know that she had more books come out after it. So when I found out later that she had released 3 more books I devoured them whole. I fell in love with her writing even more and slowly, bit by bit, I got through book after book. It’s not a secret, to my friends or most of old classmates, that I love her.…

  • Exciting Edits

So this is the first copy of my draft. It’s taken me a year to write the it from start to finish (the last 53,000 was done for NaNoWriMo this year). This is a little earlier than I would have liked but I’m on a little deadline that involves throwing my very rough draft and putting it in the hands of my lecturers for a chance to win a manuscript appraisal, which would be invaluable feedback, good or bad. So here it is. It’s 323 pages long and it’s huge. I went with M to go and pick up our t-shirts for the Color Run tomorrow and made the stop…

  • NaNoWriMo and finishing my first draft

It’s been three days since I reached 50k. I bet my last record by a day and learned a heck of a lot from it. One plot holes make me stress like it’s nobodies business. Second, editing as you go, really does suck. How do people do it? The other HUGE thing that happened was that I FINALLY finished the first draft of my manuscript. (Technically it’s like my second for most of my novel, but shhh!) I went to visit the ever lovely Peta in Bendigo (I love going to see her and her family, I feel like I’m apart of it all!) and I pretty much used it…

  • Taking Chances

I’ve been pondering a lot lately (also I’ve been way busy with the last crazy semester of my course.) I made the actuve decision somewhere during this year to be more active, to movs my body, to nourish it with food thats both good and try to believe and lovd in myself. If anyone who reads this knows me, they know how obsessed I am with Lorna Jane, I’m sure my friends are sick of seeing all my hash tags! I stumbled along Move. Nourish. Believe. by chance and I haven’t looked back, but my confession is that I don’t always follow this. There are times where I just can’t…

  • Emerging Writers’ Festival 2013

So I wanted to get this done earlier but life has been so hectic and I finally have a quiet moment. I must say this years EWF was amazing! The new director and program was a hit. There were so many things that I went to that i enjoyed. I think what made it a little more fun was the fact that I was able to go these events with people I adore. Megan and Peta were my musketeers and it was a lot of fun! I think I loved the fact that we could be immersed in this literary world as a newbie. Or at least for me. I…

  • Lover Reborn

I’ve waited years for a Tohrment’s book, he is one of my favourite characters and I was so cut when the events that happened early on in the series so much that it nearly made me want to give up thinking he’d be back. Lover Reborn is book 10 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and while many have thought that JR Ward waned a little with her books, I think people are reading them wrong, but that’s just my personal view, others will disagree but I don’t really care, but I loved it. Lover Reborn starts off right in the middle of the action and almost at the peek of…

  • Jumbled Scenes

I just felt like i was logging into tumblr when i logged on here…wow. Everything is starting to look the same on the internet…this is not good! Fleeee! Okay rant out. I’ve been writing a bit and when i first started doing this (before I had the whole picture in my head like I do now), I used to write as scenes came to me. It was the only way that I could get anywhere and I know that I was on the right track. I thought i was crazy and it wasn’t until I went to see Tara Moss speaking about her book Hit and plucked the up the…
