• Designing Her Life: Change Makers Interview

I had the lovely pleasure of being apart of the gorgeous Amy’s amazing interview series “Change Makers” over on Designing Her Life and it just went live (like on Friday!) Here’s a link to it, head on over to see what I had to say. It was so much fun to be apart of this amazing line up of women!

  • Pay for Editing. Your Work Will Thank You

Why should you get your piece of writing edited by someone who’s knows what they’re doing? Better yet why should you pay for editing? What makes it so special? Editing is such a precarious object. It’s always so subjective, but why do you really need editing? Why not just outsource it to a friend who will give you feedback for nothing versus forking out money to get an editor to look at it? Why bother to pay for editing? Look at it this way: would you self diagnose your child with a heart problem just by their outward behaviour? Would you trust your partner/husband/boyfriend to fix the oven when it…

  • Rock Your Goals Podcast

I had the absolute pleasure of being on my gorgeous friend, Sarah Jensen of Sarahjensen.com.au, Rock Your Goals Podcast where we got all juicy and raw with writing, editing, writing practice and just how my dad’s death has changed my life and my business. We also talked about: How health can change and shape your creativity. What to do when you just can’t write and it’s writing time. How a great editor can help shape your writing and make it better. What to do when your Inner Editor comes out to play. Great tips on how to get a Writing Practice started. How changing…

  • Featured on Elizabeth Kelsey Bradley’s Blog

I can’t believe that I completely forgot to even mention this on here, I know I mentioned it on my Facebook but here is the amazing interview I did over on Elizabeth’s website! It was called Savouring Simplicity and she’s just revamped it and moved servers (heck yeah, I can comment on it now!) and moved over to use her own name. This amazing writer is someone I can’t wait to see what happens with her! Check out my interview on her site over here.

  • Your Creative Life Podcast

I was lucky to be asked, by one of my beautiful friends, Vanessa Carnevale, to be a one of her special guests on her podcast: Your Creative Life. It was my first podcast and not my last one, that’s for sure! We chatted about the importance of a writing practice, how it brings meditation and mindfullness into your life and a few other handy tips on writing. It was a fun chat. It’s available on iTunes and can be found over here. Keep an eye out, after being on all of these amazing podcasts, I’m starting to work on my own, its going to be amazing!

  • Stories can be read on screen too

Another thing I have thought about doing this year is breaking down things I watch, because the writing can sometimes be very good (like in Prison Break) or very badly at the start (like Shadow Hunters) but it’s necessary to have these sorts of extremes in our lives so that we can see the differences and I personally love binging on shows and by now making them apart of my writing, I actually have found a way to make it work into my life, how nifty is that? But stories aren’t the only things that can be read, they can be watched. So without further ado, let’s talk about Prison…

  • The Shadows: A Book a Week Challenge

One of my goals this year is to try and read a book a week, because it’s easy to do and I love reading but it’s always one of the first things to leave when I get too busy. As a way to hold up my end of the bargain I’ve decided to write reviews of everything I watch and read because, let’s face it, I’m a writer and I pick apart a lot of books and shows without meaning to because I like to see the different ideas that at went into writing the book/show/movie. So I have a few that will come up because I can’t get them…

    Writing Wednesday

How does Wednesday roll around so fast? Happy hump day and happy Writing Wednesday, today’s writing prompt is about superpowers. I’ve been binging on Jessica Jones after being completely riveted by the first ep, something that generally doesn’t happen very often, but whoa, seriously if you have a chance, do yourself a favour and start watching it. You won’t regret it. Choose a character or write about yourself and what it would be like. If you have a super power, what would it be? Or what would you give your character if you could give them anything? For a chance at free editing (valued at $450) send your tried to submissions(at)dreamingfullyawake(dot)com.…

  • Owning up to the Divine

Today I’m owning up to the divine because I finally feel like it’s time. For as long as I could remember I was always fascinated with the elements of life; I fell in love with TV shows like Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer; I read books based on Wicca like the series Wicca/Sweep by Cate Tiernan; I collected crystals, did meditation, bought books by Fiona Horne and hid copies of the magazine Witchcraft under my bed; I did my Year 10 project on witchcraft and hired every witchy movie I could get my hands on to review, Hocus Pocus was my favourite and Blair witch 2 was waaaay better than…

    Writing Wednesday

Today’s Writing Wednesday Writing prompt is about fear. It’s been something that has been playing on my mind lately. What have you been too scared to? Has fear stopped you from doing what you really want to do in life? It’s time to explore it and get over it. That deep gut wrenching fear is stopping you from walking over to that investor to introduce yourself. How do you talk yourself over that ledge?
