How Powerful Can Books Be?
Books save lives. I know that they saved mine. I have never been a kid that was suicidal, or had thoughts of just being over with this life, but I was fed up with how I was being treated. I was bullied at school it didn’t stop until I hit university. So for almost 13 years straight I was bullied because I was Greek; because I was too nice; because I wanted to get to know everyone; because I wanted to be friends with everyone; because I got to be friends with the new people before anyone else. I don’t know what their reasoning was, it just was. I resisted…

In Memory of My Dad, Georgie Porgie
It’s been a year today since I got that phone call that left me sobbing on my cold tiled apartment floor that a man that I loved and adored was gone. I always thought that my dad was always going to be around, he was always there when I needed him, even when my pride was telling me that I couldn’t ask for help, he was patiently waiting for me to find a way to get past it. But I was his daughter (and I still am), I’m stubborn to my core and I want to do things my way, no matter how I get them. I will work on…

Every Writer Needs a Place
I’ve been having a bit of a hard time with blog posts lately and largely I think that’s because I’ve been stressing out so much with trying to have enough income to support myself so I can stay in my apartment that is, very much, home to me. I got a promotion at work and I’m currently 2IC at an outlet store with a fantabulous manager and a great team. I was a little hesitant to move because my old store was so close to me, but now I’m so damn glad that I was able to do it. I’m much happier and life is a little shiny around the…

Adelaide Writers’ Week 2015
For the first time since I moved to Melbourne I attended the Adelaide Writers’ Week in (you guessed it, Adelaide) I had a duel sort of purpose for being down, one was this and the other was that I officially became godmother to the most adorable little man on the planet. Bliss. It was also, in short, a great little holiday I needed where I read, caught up with old friends, found out lots of new things as well as looked back on the past, but enough about that. What you really want to know about is the Writers’ Week. Being on a come down from almost being burnt out…

You walk into a food court and there are so many choices to choose from, what do you choose and how do you choose it? Don’t forget to send your tries into me at dreaming (at) dreamingfullyawake (dot) com for a chance to get free editing.

Writing: A Form of Emotional Release
I learned a long time ago that writing was a form of emotional release for me. It was a way for me to cope with the world; an escape. What I didn’t realise was that sometimes it’s a bad thing to do. Why you ask? I’ll tell you why. I finished editing my first novel and I’m now in the process of going through my second novel to start rewrites next month and I cam across a scene where I’ve had to kill a character. A character that is a huge part in a lot of my character’s life. A father figure. And right now, as I am going through…

Writing Wednesday
And it’s here again. Writing Wednesday has come around again. Where has the week gone? I was a little silent on the blog (even though I had the burning urge to write) due to some updates with my hosting, but all is good now and here we are! Yay. I’ve had lots of conversations in the last week about technology and social media. Sometimes it can be a real drag. So it’s fitting that today’s writing prompt is about technology. Your character wakes up in a world where technology as we know, is a thing of the past, literally. What sorts of things are out now and explain it,…
