I stared at the door and lifted a hand to press against it. I could feel Hunter mirror the motion before I opened it. He was wearing a stipred shirt, shorts and Ray-Bans, his runners physique on full display. His hair was cut shorter than usual, but it was always cut that short in summer.

I shut the door and leaned against it. All of the feeling i had pushed under the surface flood back and i had o close my eyes. He made things better. He always had–until he stomped all over my heart.
