• The Artist’s Way Wrap Up

Before I ventured on to actually do this journey, I’d heard lots about The Artist’s Way. Even friends who had dabbled with just the beginning pages had mentioned it but never really thought much about it. Now looking back I understand why it’s such a pivot and most recommended books around the internet. The Artist’s Way may have been published way back when (1992 to be exact), but every essay written within its cover still hits all the right spots some 25 years later. For those of you who haven’t picked up the book, seriously what are you doing? Even if you’re not blocked and you want to learn more…

  • The Seven Stages of Creativity

Creativity is a mystery that we all try to pinpoint. And I really started to unfold this mystery with a quote that I open up my computer to every morning when I power it up and that’s: You can’t use up Creativity. The more you use, the more you have – Maya Angelou I have the last two sentences of this quote set up as a wallpaper on my computer and I have to tell you, it took me hours to find it, so it seemed perfect to start this blog post off with a quote like that because it’s perfect in every way. I wholeheartedly believe that the more…

  • My Permission Slip

Two years ago Big Magic by Liz Gilbert came out. There was a huge ruckus online about it because every creative entrepreneur was reading it and raving about it. I mean it was everywhere and there’s a good reason as to why. I’m here today to talk about my big fat permission slip. Gilbert didn’t pioneer the rules that creatives should live by but she did speak up and give permission to creatives to have a job and still hustle. She let is know that while she was writing and selling books she didn’t quit until she was sure her income from her books was more than enough to cover…

  • The Artist’s Way – Week 8

This week was all about strength and it’s a good week, all about finding the strength even through the negative and I think it was fitting. I like to think that I have a pretty thick skin and even though it was a relatively easy week I did find a lot of resistance. The topics that were covered included: survival, the ivory power, gain disguised as loss, age and time: product and process, filling the form and this week went back to affirmations. Morning Pages: I was pretty consistent with it this time, I made sure that I did a little even if it was just before work or what…

  • Finding Your Writing Why

Find something that you’re passionate about: use that passion and write about it. I was watching the new Gilmore Girls episodes and laughing, sobbing and crying with every part. It was all so beautiful and I’m dying for more. Can we start another petition to get more seasons, please? I mean there’s still so much more to talk about here, how about those last four words, hey? Don’t worry I’m not going to spoil it for anyone, that would be unfair and I did my hardest to not look at any spoilers until I’d watched all four episodes and then I went crazy. I felt like I was watching Rory…

  • Fuelling your Writing Temple

When I think of food, I always think: Yum, get in my belly! I’m Greek, so if you can’t find a common language barrier, you just feed people. It’s an unofficial rule or something of the like, or at least that’s what I like to think anyway. I grew up around food, the smells of pastisio, moussaka, freshly made bread and kokkinisto (red sauce) meat is something I associated with life. Meals that were made with extra love have always been a highlight in my day. Since moving out and learning about food I decided to nix a lot of things out of my diet (some because it makes me…

  • #5minsofwriting

A juicy and loving Writing Practice is a marathon of love. It’s not something that happens overnight and I know that through years and years of love and labour, I can get to my computer and sit down for a short amount of time and just pump out the words, but there are days where I find the idea of sitting down and writing something akin to sitting in the dentist chair (it’s been almost 3 years since my last trip…shhh) and it’s perfectly normal to have these days. Even I struggle with days where the thought of putting my fingers onto the keypad is excruciating and I would…
